MEMORABLE PAST EVENTS
SCARLET GUARD & APPLETON AMERICAN LEGION FAMILY AT THE APPLETON CHRISTMAS PARADE
On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, the whole American Legion Family (Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and SAL) participated in the Appleton Christmas Parade, one of the largest parades in the State of Wisconsin.
We had a great response this year and Post 38 was well-represented during this time-honored event. A heartfelt "Thank You" to ALL who took time out of your busy schedules to brave the cold weather and represent our American Legion Post 38!
POST 38'S KITCHEN REMODEL
The below story took a bit of coordination in writing, but after working with a behind the scenes contributor, we are ready to post!
NOVEMBER 2022:
After almost 2 years of planning and countless hours of coordination, American Legion Post 38, finally opened their newly remodeled kitchen in June 2022.
As a bit of a back story, the Legion’s kitchen was in dire need of an upgrade. After not passing inspections, and several structural and mechanical setbacks, Post 38 had to temporarily shut their kitchen down. Additionally, the Legion’s dated kitchen would have to permanently close if the kitchen was not made code compliant. This would have been a catastrophic financial setback for Post 38. Our own Legionnaire, Migeal Babino lead the coordination of this effort with UA Local 400.
Demolition of the kitchen began on May 16, 2022, and was substantially completed on June 3, 2022. UA Local 400 Business Agent Kirk Rademaker and UA 400 Plumbing Instructor Bruce Dietzen together with eight (8) plumbing apprentices throughout the Fox Valley area led the UA 400 contingent on this project.
On Monday, November 7, 2022, UA Local 400 was honored along with The Boldt Company, Bassett Mechanical, Coenen Mechanical , Sargent Electric, Construction & General Laborers Local 330, and Viking Electric. These fine organizations as well as their crews of dedicated individuals donated time, materials, labor and other resources for this huge undertaking.
Also, an integral part of this project was the SAL (Sons of the American Legion). These members provided countless hours in preparation and cleanup. Without their help, this project would not have met our timeline.
American Legion Post 38 is eternally grateful to these organizations and the efforts they personally put into to the remodel of our kitchen facility.

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER &
SATURDAY BREAKFASTWITH SANTA HIGHLIGHTS
We were overwhelmed by the fabulous turn out for our Dinner/Breakfast with Santa events on Friday, December 16th, and Saturday, December 17th.
Santa was busy keeping all the boys and girls happy with their treasures and ensuring he had all their requests on his list for Christmas eve's delivery.
There is a lot of planning that goes into something like this, and it cannot happen without our wonderful volunteers. These individuals spent countless hours procuring gifts, setting up/tearing down, decorating the hall, and those who helped in preparing the foods served.
We'd also like to thank all those who braved the cold to come and support our Post. It is awesome people such as yourselves and your families who make our Post a happening little place to be.
Happy Holidays to All!
