Annual regional rides such as Operation Wounded Warrior, sponsored by Riders in Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, California and other Western states.
Local charity events in support of The American Legion and local communities.
Raising money for VA hospitals, women and children centers, children and youth centers, schools and other facilities.
Sponsoring or participating in motorcycle runs to benefit numerous charities.
Local memorial ceremonies and community parades.
The American Legion Legacy Run, an annual cross-country fundraising ride from National Headquarters in Indianapolis to the national convention city.

Escorting military units to departure airfields and airports for combat tours overseas, and welcoming them home upon their return.

AMERICAN LEGION LEGACY RUN
Since 2006, Riders nationwide have participated in The American Legion Legacy Run, first raising money for scholarships for children of U.S. military personnel killed since September 11, 2001, and now for the Veterans & Children Foundation, which funds American Legion service officer training and provides grants for at-risk minor children of Legionnaires and active-duty military.

AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS ASSOCIATION OF WISCONSIN &
9TH DISTRICT RIDERS

(9th District Riders)
The American Legion Riders Association (ALRA) of Wisconsin was formed in August 2000. Today, the ALRA of Wisconsin consists of many members covering all twelve districts across the state. Appleton American Legion Post 38 is part of the 9th District Riders. They encompass many of Wisconsin’s northeast counties including: Brown, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Marinette, Oconto and Outagamie counties. Currently, the President of the 9th District Riders is Paul Heit (paul.heit@att.net).
The ALRA of Wisconsin has 765 members across all 12 districts. They are comprised of 550 Legionnaires, 124 Auxiliary members and 140 Sons of the American Legion.

Membership Requirements
A current member of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion.
You must be a registered owner of a motorcycle of at least 500cc and hold a current motorcycle endorsement. The motorcycle must be operational upon renewal.
All new applicants should be sponsored by a fellow American Legion Rider.
Upon approval of appointment, annual dues must be paid.

2026 Let’s Ride Challenge® – Ride for Heroes

Harley-Davidson invites riders across the country to ride with purpose. The 2026 Let’s Ride Challenge® – Ride for Heroes, a powerful tribute to the military members, veterans, and first responders who sacrifice so much to protect and serve our communities.
As participating riders rack up and log their miles, they may also compete to win one of five new Harley-Davidson® motorcycles and earn other awards. The Let’s Ride Challenge® Ride for Heroes runs from February 27 to October 31, 2026.

SOJOURN 250 FOR 2026 (NATIONAL RIDE)
4 JULY 2026
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Registration now is open to American Legion Riders for Sojourn 250, a one-day ride on July 4 from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., that will cap a 26-country journey for the U.S. flag to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday. Registration will close when 275 Riders have registered.
Riders taking part in #Sojourn250 are urged to book their hotels for the night before the ride as soon as possible, as many in the downtown Pittsburgh area already are full.
